The World Islamic Scouts and Youth Union presents the International Forum on Combating Plastic Pollution, on the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, under the patronage of His Excellency Professor Dr. Moustafa Hussein Kamel, Director of the Basel Regional Centre for Training and Technology Transfer for Arab States (BCRC-Egypt) and former Minister of Environment of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The forum is organized by the Union's Environment Committee and supervised by the Secretary-General of the Union, Dr. Zuhair bin Hussein Ghunaim.
The forum's guest of honor will be Dr. Naif Saleh Al-Shalhoub, along with a distinguished group of experts in the environmental field.
The forum will be held on Sunday evening, June 15, 2025, from 7:30 PM to 7:30 PM Mecca time, via Zoom. The following speakers will present papers at the forum:
1- Dr. Naif Saleh Al-Shalhoub, Environmental and Pollution Protection Consultant, will present a paper on "The Importance of Environmental Awareness."
2- Professor Dr. Bandar Ahmed Al-Mur, Professor of Marine Pollution, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, King Abdulaziz University, will present a paper on "The Impact of Plastic Pollution on the Marine Environment."
3- Professor Omar Bashir Abu Aqla, Professor of Medical Microbiology from Sudan, and researcher in environment, health, and their impact on crowds, will present a paper on (The Impact of Plastic on Health).
4- Dr. Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al-Buraiki Al-Shammari, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's Agency for Vegetation Cover, will present a paper on (The Impact of Plastic on Vegetation Cover).
5- Ms. Khulood Saleh Nasser Al-Fadhli, an environmental activist and holder of two Guinness World Records certificates for plastic bottle caps, will present a paper on (Plastic and Reaching Global Recognition).
The forum will be moderated by media personality Mohammed Bakr Barnawi.
