Dear participants,

The Basel Convention provides in Article 14 for the establishment of Regional Centres for Training and Technology Transfer (BCRCs) regarding the management of hazardous wastes and other wastes and the minimization of their generation, and the Stockholm Convention provides in Article 12 for the establishment of regional and sub-regional centres for capacity-building and transfer of technology (SCRCs) to assist developing country Parties and Parties with economies in transition to fulfill their obligations under the Convention

Welcome to Basel Convention Regional Center for Training and Technology Transfer for the Arab States (BCRC-Egypt).
BCRC-Egypt was established in 2000 to be a credible Regional Center, capable of providing Quality Sound Management of Hazardous Wastes services and consultations acknowledged by the 22 member Arab countries. BCRC-Egypt is hosted by Cairo University, one of the most outstanding academic and research institutes in the region.
Despite the challenges that face the Center, we aspire to live up to the utmost expectations and facilitate the technology transfer concerning the important environmental issues that may face the Arab states. The services provided by the center are made possible by a dedicated staff of technical and administrative personnel who aspire to provide superior services to all the Arab states.
